Experience
My educational and professional background is quite extensive and varied. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. I am currently working on my graduate degree at Texas Woman's University. My goal is to become a school psychologist. In the past, I was a corps member with Teach for America, where I started gaining experience in education. I am certified to teach math to students in grades 4-8, and in generalist for grades EC-6. My direct experience came from teaching fifth and sixth grade math during my two-year corps experience. I also worked with a nonprofit algebra prep company for two years.Within my current graduate work, I am researching various subjects regarding children with learning disabilities and deficits in functions. In spring 2015, I taught an undergraduate developmental psychology class at my school. I have tutored in several organizations, including the Shelton School and UT Learning Center, and I worked with students that have learning disabilities. My favorite subject to teach is middle school math. I also enjoy tutoring public speaking, lower- and upper-level math, social sciences, and writing. I can help students with developing good study skills and preparing for tests as well. Since students learn in different ways, I spend time figuring out which way works best for each of my students, whether they have special needs or are gifted.Outside of my graduate studies and tutoring, I spend time with my family and friends, watch movies, listen to music, and attend basketball games.
