EducationRandolph College - BA, English , The University of Texas at Arlington - MA, Linguistics
ExperienceI have a passion for the English language. I attended Randolph Macon Woman's College, and there I earned my bachelor's degree in English with a concentration on Writing. I am now pursuing my master's degree in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Arlington. During my undergraduate studies and before heading back to school to pursue my master's, I was lucky to have the chance to travel all over the world and learning new writing styles as I enjoyed the local cultures. I have traveled to a total of 15 other countries. During my junior year at Randolph, I studied in England, and there I learned how to use the Oxford and Cambridge styles of writing and essay construction. I then traveled throughout Europe for the remainder of that year. When I returned to the U.S. for my senior year, I was then given the chance to work as the international student orientation mentor and leader. Later, I worked as an intern at a local high school, and there I tutored ESL students in the English language. After completing my undergraduate studies, I traveled to Australia and New Zealand while working toward my TESOL certification. Then I spent time as a pronunciation teacher for an Eastfield College and at Oxford Seminars. Next, I took a trip to Russia, and there I taught advanced English classes to local people of all ages for two years. I both worked with groups of students and helped many students one-on-one. I greatly enjoy tutoring and teaching, and after I complete my graduate studies, I want to continue teaching English, because it is my true passion. When not tutoring, I enjoy creative writing, reading, singing karaoke, shopping, and checking out the latest tech gadgets. I also enjoy drinking great coffee.
