I have been working as a tutor since 2003, when I first started university. I have taught language arts in the classroom, as well as privately tutoring people of all ages. I believe in establishing a connection with my students, the same relationship coworkers and colleagues have, and promoting friendship and a comfortable working environment. In addition to tutoring, I worked in Arlington, Texas, as a substitute school teacher.Having two children of my own has allowed me to always think like a teacher, where I am challenged with coming up with fun and exciting activities. Because of this, I have learned to create an exciting teaching style that is both informative and entertaining. One of the most important factors behind being a successful learner is having an interest in the subject. If one is not committed to developing a greater understanding of the subject, he or she will not be successful in it. It is my job as a tutor to help the students connect with the material by demonstrating it to them in such a manner that they can relate to.I believe a tutor is more of a friend than an educator. Tutors understand the student's problems and work to help him or her overcome these obstacles. Tutoring should be a balance between education and entertainment, where the student is relaxed and learning in a stress free environment.
